Safe Spectrum was founded by Shauna Toups, a single mother of a child with severe autism who has spent years navigating IEP meetings, ABA services, SSI benefits, school challenges, evaluations, attorneys, and safety concerns.
Our mission is to help autism families navigate services, build community, stay organized, and stay safe.
We believe no family should have to navigate this journey alone.
Safe Spectrum is committed to providing resources, education, support, and future safety-focused solutions that empower autism families and help autistic individuals thrive.
A Message From Our Founder
If you're here, there's a good chance you're navigating a journey you never expected to be on.
As the mother of a child with severe autism, I know firsthand how overwhelming, isolating, and exhausting this path can be. I've spent years learning how to navigate diagnoses, therapies, IEP meetings, SSI benefits & resources, school challenges, safety concerns, and the countless systems families are expected to understand overnight.
There were many times I felt alone. Many times I wished someone would simply say, "I've been there, and I'll help you figure it out."
That's why I created Safe Spectrum.
My goal is to help families feel less alone, more informed, more supported, and more empowered to advocate for the people they love. I want to help create the village so many of us wish we had when we first started this journey.
Safe Spectrum is more than a website. It's a community built on understanding, compassion, and the belief that no family should have to navigate autism alone.
Whether you're here because of a new diagnosis, school challenges, safety concerns, or simply looking for people who understand, I want you to know that you are welcome here.
We're building something special together, and I'm honored you're here!
